Due to the importance of prevention and the urgent need of the community for development, the School of Rehabilitation Sciences at Medical University of Isfahan (MUI) was established in the academic year 1992. Then, with identifying the educational polices and the capitalizing on potent workforces, the decision was made to launch specialized fields such as Physiotherapy, Orthotics and Prosthetics, and Speech Therapy. The first group of students accepted in the academic year 1993. In 1998, the first undergraduate students graduated from this school. Currently, the School of Rehabilitation sciences is accepting undergraduate students in the fields of Audiology, Occupational Therapy, Orthotics and Prosthetics, Physiotherapy, and Speech Therapy; and is accepting students in Master of science in Orthotics and Prosthetics, Physiotherapy and Speech Therapy. The school has started to accept Ph.D. students in Orthotics and Prosthetics since 2016.
In concomitant with the mission of MUI, the major mission of the School of Rehabilitation Sciences is to train specialized and efficient forces in various fields of rehabilitation science in undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs with focus on professional ethics, knowledge production and technology in the field of rehabilitation sciences according to the community needs in order to provide modern rehabilitation services to different parts of society. The School of Rehabilitation Sciences with privileged students, specialist and young faculty members, dedicated staff, international communications, specialized clinics, research centers and postgraduate courses, educational services, provides its research and clinical services in accordance with world up-to-date standards to the community through close relationship with organizations and agencies in the field of rehabilitation to improve the quality of life of the people.
Through the qualitative promotion of education, the qualitative and quantitative development of research, the targeted development of postgraduate education, the School of Rehabilitation Sciences endeavors to obtain scientific authority in at least three specialized areas including: converting science and technology into wealth and fund, using new technologies related to improving the lives of the elderly and raising public awareness about the role of rehabilitation at different levels of the health system, to become the top site in the field of rehabilitation science in the country.
