The Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Practice was firstly established in 2004.Three principal domains are embedded in department policy including:
1. Education (in two main domains): Teaching and training of Pharm.D. students as well as Ph.D. students in clinical pharmacy specialty. Off note, Ph.D. training course has been commenced in 2014. The Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Practice renders a residency program for graduated Pharm.D. students which leads to a specialized degree in “clinical pharmacy or Pharmacotherapy”. The residency program was designed to be completed through full-time rotations in 5 years. The department also provides therapeutic courses for educating Pharm.D. students.
2. Research: Generate and disseminate knowledge to advance patient care, medication safety, disease prevention and treatment, health care cost-effectiveness and quality, and pharmacy education.
3. Public health: Clinical Pharmacy division provides evidence-based patients care that optimizes medication use across all healthcare contexts and especially tertiary referral hospital.
Optimal goal in clinical pharmacy department is to advance the precise, safe, and effective use of medicines to improve health through excellence in patient care, education, research, and public service.
