Department of Nutrition and Food Science was established in 1987 as Nutrition Department in School of Health and Nutrition at the MUI. The first group of BSc. students of nutrition entered the school to extend nutritional knowledge as graduate programs.
Our vision is to provide state-of-the-art full program of academic nutrition education in the field of Clinical Nutrition in connection with university educational hospitals and also through the Health System with latest evidence-based and patient-centered nutrition care in order to optimize the health and well-being at all levels.
Our Mission is providing the latest evidence based courses in Clinical Nutrition and practical training for both undergraduate and postgraduate nutrition students, setting up MSc course in Clinical Nutrition in the near future, conducting Applied Research in the field of Clinical Nutrition at MSc. and Ph.D levels and providing up to date advices and guidelines of clinical nutrition and also evidence-based nutrition therapy for patients at nutritional risk to maximize nutritional status and help them with therapeutic diets to minimize nutritional deficiencies and restore nutrients reserves of the body at university hospitals. Students should pass practical courses (apprenticeship) under supervision of members at the university hospitals as well as working in collaboration with Food Security Research Center and nutrition library resources. They also routinely participate in educational workshops of basic research methodology and search strategy.
