Surgical technology in Iran for associate degree in 1987-2001 and for baccalaureate degree and continuous baccalaureate has been started in different colleges across the country since 1999, in 1987 under the title of "operating room department" and now as "surgical technology".Surgical technology is a branch of medical sciences and the Surgical Technology Department is the administrator of training students in this field. This department is also responsible for offering surgical technology and anesthesia courses to the students of nursing and midwifery for bachelor degree.  Surgical technology is a department located in nursing and midwifery faculty in MUI.The goal of educational department of surgical technology is educating adept  competent students with human high values originated from Islamic education in line with promoting healthcare level to meet multilateral patients' needs of pre, mid and post-surgical operation.Training aware and efficient students who can represent reasonable required care services in the highest standard by achieving professional skills in operation room and benefiting the latest knowledge and technology in order to sustain, promote and extend the level of patient and society health.Conducting research in various fields pertaining to the profession and responding questions and human needs so as to promote society health and also expanding reciprocity intergroup and intragroup research activities.Improving and promoting clinical skills, reinforcing collaboration and teamwork; dominating basic requirements in line with the patients and society health and also nurturing fovorable and insight in students to their own profession.
