This department has started its activity under the title of Medical Records since 1989 with associate degree in the school of Nursing and Midwifery. Then, the department worked under the title of Management and Health Information Technology and wherein B.S and M.S students have been educated until now. The main purpose is to manage  the health information technology sector, including data collection and processing (organization, classification, & statistical compilation), storage and retrieval of information, provision of information needed to protect the patients' rights,  capitalizing on Information technology in education, research, service, and statistics. Graduates of this field can manage the Health Information Technology sectors relying their knowledge and skills. They can play important roles in services, education, management, and research.
