Radiology has been defined as a diagnostic as well as interventional specialty with an increasingly development in recent years. Given the progressive growth of technology, not only innovative approaches could be emerged but also it brings new challenges as well. Diagnostic radiology assists the physician through answering questions about current medical condition of patient to avoid extra clinical procedures by which the patient may bear higher costs and miss more vital time. Accordingly, various imaging techniques could be required from plain radiographs, ultrasound imaging, and computed tomography (CT) to more sophisticated techniques such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and positron emission tomography coupled with CT or MRI (PET-CT and PET-MRI). Interventional radiology plays role in managing patients (minimization of inventive procedures and a significant speed-up in most effective and timely clinical procedures).
Established in 1972 as a part of Department of Internal Medicine.
- To provide high quality services in Medical Imaging and image-guided therapies with respect to the privacy of our patients and their caregivers to improve their quality of life and to be approved with their consent as possible.
- To approach to scientific advancement in Medical Imaging and image-guided therapy services to be understood as a cost-efficient, less invasive and safe practices, while training and caring.
- To evaluate all educational efforts and activities from not only students but educators by means of academic metrics.
- To enhance scholarly, educational and procedural approaches through linking to other leading universities worldwide.
- The Radiology department in medical faculty includes 15 members.
