The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics was established in 1988 as a part of the school of health in Medical University of Isfahan.In 2002, the first Biostatistics student had been accepted in MSc degree. Afterward, in 2010 The department started the education of MSc students in Epidemiology.  In February 2011, Education of PhD Biostatistics was available.

The mission is to train specialists in the fields of biostatistics, epidemiology and even wider health and medical areas. Graduated students would have the ability to comment on the use of statistical topics, the examination and evaluation of the health of demographic groups and the community in various health sciences. Moreover, the department pursues other objectives mentioned below:

• Developing general health programs
• Modeling and analyzing data
