Department of Biomedical Engineering (Bioelectric)

The Department of Biomedical Engineering (Bioelectric) at the School of ATiM has been admitting MSc students since 2001 and launched its PhD program in 2009.

The department is committed to educating highly skilled biomedical engineers through a balanced approach that integrates strong theoretical foundations with hands-on practical training. A key focus of the department is close collaboration with clinical, therapeutic, and research centers to enhance public health, support sustainable development, and address complex biomedical challenges.

Research and educational activities are organized into the following core areas:

  • Medical image processing
  • Biomedical signal processing
  • Voice and speech processing and the development of speech therapy systems
  • Modeling and simulation of biological systems
  • Design and manufacture of electronic components, prostheses, organ control systems, and rehabilitation devices
  • Applications of virtual and augmented reality in medicine
  • Biomedical signal acquisition and hospital monitoring system design
  • Advanced research in physiotherapy, chiropractic, radiotherapy equipment, and medical laser technologies
  • Design and development of therapeutic and laboratory medical systems
