COVID19 Prevention

Since February 2020, when the corona pandemic broke out, Isfahan University of Medical Sciences, in line with the policies of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education, has carried out preventional actions in this field in Isfahan province, some of which are as follows:

  • Equipping and launching the Molecular Detection Laboratory of Covid, which by February 2022 had performed about one million and four hundred tests. Also, the necessary coordination and follow-up to increase the capacity of private laboratories for Covid test and related quantitative and qualitative evaluations.
  • Monitoring the health status and vaccination of high-risk individuals such as the elderly and special patients
  • Opening 43 very large vaccination centers in the province and injecting about eight million and five hundred thousand doses of Covid vaccine to eligible people of five years and older
  • Attract maximum participation and support of important groups including benefactors, partners, decision-makers and even the opposition to empower the community to take care of their health against the disease.
  • Collecting information and preparing statistics of special groups to prepare and inject vaccines, including special patients, specialist physicians and assistants of special wards (nurses)
  • Define and monitor protocols that minimize the risk of Covid in hospitals, health centers and clinics such as isolation of dialysis patients' routes, development of a special process for the delivery of corpses of suspected patients or patients with Covid, implementation of social distances in medical centers, closure of all unnecessary services, including beauty and slimming in times of crisis, determining referral imaging centers for patients with Covid and determining radiology and sonography institutes for pregnant mothers, separating CT scan units of patients with Covid and patients without Covid in hospitals, determining referral clinics for patients with Covid, preventing the movement of food trolleys between the inpatient wards and all spaces related to food services, preventing the entry of any type of food container from the inpatient wards to the spaces related to food services, using industrial packaged breads and disposable tableware in hospitals
  • Extra care services to patients in Covid crisis situations, such as the presence of mental health experts in hospitals for emotional and psychological support and counseling with medical staff, distribution of support packages, masks and alcohol to the needy patients, the presence of a senior nutritionist to train and supervise the cooking of diet foods in hospitals
