Health and Treatment Networks

The Iranian health system underwent radical changes in 1985. Among these changes were the development of a nationwide health network, and the integration of health services provision with medical education. Subsequent to the establishment of the Iranian Ministry of Health and Medical Education, one or more universities in every province in the country were designated as the University of Medical Education and Health Services. These universities run District Health and Treatment Networks in each province. The Health and Treatment Network is the highest level for provision of public health and treatment services. This network coordinates the activities of urban and rural health centers with University headquarters.
